Brian Hensel is in his first season as the Bucks
Head Coach. He was tapped to lead the team on
12/23/08. Hensel, who has spent 14 of his
18-year coaching career in the Central Bucks School
District, was the offensive and defensive line coach
for the 2007 undefeated Suburban One Continental
Conference Champion CB South Titans. Prior to
joining the Bucks, Hensel spent five seasons with
the Titans. As the Titans offensive line
coach, Hensel was responsible for the emergence of
the high-powered CB South offensive attack which
helped spark the club's remarkable run to a Suburban
One Continental Conference title in 2007.
Those efforts culminated with a perfect 10-0 regular
season record that year and a 31-6 victory over the
Haverford Fords. Hensel's unit helped lead the
league in rushing offense in 2007 and produced the
school's first 1,000 yard rusher in Eric Reynolds
(Temple University).
Hensel has long had a reputation for getting the
most out of the linemen he coaches. Hensel
helped develop First Team All-League defensive line
selections Dean Bowser, James Soreth, and Aaron
Myers anchoring a stingy Titan defensive line.
The 2008 Titan offense was fueled by All-League
selections Chris Beach, Steve McDermott, and Nick
Mortimer. Other All-SOL selections mentored by
Hensel into a productive and cohesive group of
linemen include Frank Naylor (Widener University),
Karolis Bimba (Kutztown University), first Team
All-State offensive lineman Rob Kee (Kutztown
University) and Big 33 selection John Jackson
(Villanova University).
Hensel's 14 seasons in high school football began
at Upper Moreland in 1993. He ran the Golden
Bears offensive and defensive lines. He was
acquired by Mike Pettine, Sr. in 1994 to coach for
the Bucks as an assistant on both sides of the ball.
He coached tight ends and cornerbacks for two
seasons. While he was at CB West, The Bucks
won the 1994 and 1995 SOL National Conference
championship with a 21-3 record in the same period.
Following CB West, Hensel moved to Unami
(1996-1999) where he became the defensive
coordinator (1996) for long-time coach Mike Smith,
before eventually taking over the reins (1997) when
Smith retired. Following a hiatus, Hensel
served a second tour at Unami (2002-2003).
Many of Hensel's players would become cornerstones
in the 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 CB West football
teams that played in the PA State Championship
games. Hensel credits much of his team
successes to the strength training program that was
developed by his current strength coach Joe Hallman.
His staff at Unami included Tim Michael (Head Coach,
CB East) and Mike Barainyak (D-Coordinator, CB East)
as well as Chuck Rocconi of his current staff.
After a four-year playing career as an offensive
lineman at Lehigh University (1986-1989), Hensel
began his coaching career in Bethlehem, PA where he
was an assistant coach at Lehigh from 1990-1992.
Hensel is a native of Philadelphia and a member
of the Archbishop Ryan Hall of Fame. He and
his wife Dana reside in Chalfont and have three
children - Brian, Jr., Shane, and Danielle. |
