CB
WEST FOOTBALL NEWSLETTER
March
9, 2004
The
2004 Bucks have been hard at work in the weight room since
early December training for the upcoming season.
The focus has been on getting our team bigger, faster
and stronger. It
is an exciting time in the Central Bucks school district as
we prepare to open our third high school, CB South.
With our resulting dip in school enrollment, we find
ourselves moved to the American Conference of the SOL.
Although we are just large enough to stay AAAA, we
find the familiar foes on our schedule replaced with new
ones. We will
certainly miss our local rivalry games that are gone, but we
look forward to creating some new ones.
We would also like to wish our underclassmen that are
moving to CB South the best of luck in their inaugural
campaign. We
will miss you, but it will be neat to see the atmosphere
created by CB East, CB South and CB West.
Our non-league games next year are Easton(A), CB
South(A), CB East(H) and Council Rock South(A).
Our conference games will be with Cheltenham(A),
Upper Dublin(H), Plymouth-Whitemarsh(A), Upper Merion(H),
Wissahickon(H), Methacton(A) and Upper Moreland(A).
On offense, we
return the following players with starting experience from a
year ago:
Joe McMonagle
(SR QB) *
2 time MVP, 2nd team SOL
Doug
Maloney (SR QT)
* had a solid junior year
Brandon
King (JR RB/FB)
* HM SOL, leading rusher
Tyler
Dinnis (SR RB)
* split time as a 10th grader, injured
last year
Russ
Macchione (SR WB)
* improved as the year went on
On defense, we
return the following players with starting experience from a
year ago:
Joe
McMonagle (SR DB)
* 1st team SOL, 1st team
All-Intel
Jeff
Moffet (SR LB)
* came on strong in the second half on the year
Brandon
Navarre (SR LB)
* HM SOL, steady performer
Russ
Macchione (SR DB)
* HM SOL, steady performer
Matt
Ruane (SR DB)
* played solid in several games as a starter
Tyler
Dinnis (SR DB)
* started as a 10th grader, injured last
year
Our players and coaches are looking forward to the
challenges that the 2004 season holds.
We would like to thank the Buck Club, Parent’s Club
and CB West fans for their continued support and loyalty.
You are certainly a big part of why West is best.
I know that you are as eager as we are for the
kickoff to the 2004 season.
We look forward to seeing all of you at the annual
Buck Club Golf Tournament in June.
On behalf of our coaches and players, thank you for
your continued support.
Go Bucks!

CB WEST FOOTBALL NEWSLETTER
April 23, 2003
The 2003 Bucks have been hard at work in the weight room
since early December training for the upcoming season.
The focus has been on getting bigger, faster and stronger
than we have ever been. After graduating many seniors
last year, the competition for starting positions looks to
be very intense.
Offensively, we return 3 starters from a year ago. Joe
McMonagle, our offensive MVP at QB, will be the leader of
the offense. Craig Quedenfeld, a 2nd team ALL-League
pick, will anchor the offensive line. Tony DiBrino is
a returning starter at wingback as well. Eric Matje
started several games at tackle last year, but will probably
move to TE. Defensively, we return 3 starters from a
year ago. Joe McMonagle, Tony DiBrino and Tyler Dinnis
all started several games in our defensive secondary and
will provide experience to our younger players.

Added 7/7/02...
The start of another exciting season of CB West football is
right around the corner. During the past few months, the
team has made great strides improving our strength,
quickness and agility. A solid group of veteran players and
some very talented young players will insure competition at
virtually every position. We will be participating in the
Germantown Academy Passing League again this year. You can
check out the Bucks at G.A. every Tuesday and Thursday night
during July (all games begin at 6:15pm). We would also like
to officially welcome Coach Mike Pettine back to our
program. Coach Pettine will be handling the defense, and we
are very excited to have him back as part of our coaching
staff. Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you
all in the fall.
Coach Cuthbert
Added 3/15/02...The
2002 Bucks have been hard at work in the weight room since
early December training for the upcoming season.
Fueled by the disappointing end to last season, the Bucks
are hungry for success. Offensively, we will feature a
large offensive line that has three starters returning.
In the backfield, we will be relying on several young,
talented backs to carry the load. Defensively, look
for some new wrinkles and a more aggressive style of play
from a unit that returns five starters.
There
have also been several changes on the coaching staff.
We are thrilled to have the best strength coach around, Joe
Hallman, running our weight room again. Former East
head coach, Chuck Rocconi, will also be returning for his
second stint as an assistant coach here at West. Chuck
will be coaching the defensive line and wingbacks. I
am presently interviewing several candidates, so it is
possible that there may be more additions to the staff.
As we
train for the upcoming year, we are looking forward to
probably the toughest schedule ever seen at West.
Since our league alignment has changed (we now only have
seven league games0, we had to pick up some games at tough
points during the season. We filled our schedule out
with non-league games against St. Joe's (A), Pennridge (A),
and Glen Mills (H). In contrast to last season, we
return many veteran players. This group includes
all-league selections Mike Winn (DE), Steve Moll (OG) and
Chris McGinn (S). The team will also have excellent
leadership from our captains (Andrew Ackley, Chris McGinn,
Steve Moll and Mike Winn) and weight room captains (Sean
Burke and Steve Doerner). Our players and coaches are
eager to erase the painful end to last year's season with a
return to glory this year. We would like to thank the
Buck Club, Parent's Club, and CB West fans for their
continued support and loyalty. You are certainly a big
part of why West is best! I know that you are as eager
as we are for the kickoff to the 2002 season. We look
forward to seeing all of you at the annual Buck Club Golf
Tournament in June. On behalf of our coaches and
players, thank you for your continued support. Go
Bucks!
Coach Cuthbert
SPECIAL NOTES:
-
Gene Rich has joined an elite and growing group of
standout CB West players to be named to the BIG 33 game.
Congratulations, Gene. We are all very proud of
you and your accomplishments!
-
The 2002 Bucks will be sporting new uniforms and helmets
next year. The "new look" uniforms will actually
look more like the old-time Central Bucks uniforms.
The school's original colors were black and dark gold,
not yellow.
